Week 4

There was no class this week for my hybrid-online Intro to Art. However, I posted a lesson about the history of food art on the class blog site: http://introtoart1105.blogspot.com/2011/10/food-art-brief-history.html

This Friday, 10/14, we will be taking a field trip to the Sculpture Center in LIC. Their own food blog posts and MoMA field trip reactions will both be due then. More to come!

  1. There is a video of Wayne Thiebaud painting his work in the Visual Arts office. It's on VHS and he is kind of young and sweet.

  2. Our Learning Communities class (my ESL099) will be doing this activity after Ari's students do - I am very interested to see what his students do and my students, too. I guess I need to get to work on my own "food as art" project, as well!

  3. Nozomi, thanks for the lead! I'll definitely look up the Thiebaud video.

Rebekah, looking forward to the collaboration too...especially your contribution! :)

  4. looking forward to hearing what your students think of the Sanford Biggers show (and the one downstairs). Also this weekend is the last for Living as Form by Creative Time, where you can get a meal prepared by an artist at Abrons Art Center on the LES, in exchange for 1/2 hour of timebanking. This is probably really confusing, so let me know if you have questions.

  5. Thanks for the recommendation, Priscilla. Is it too late to get in on the free meal timebank? My students loved Sculpture Center, btw. They thought the space was awesome.
